Job Description
- Develop and execute innovative and delectable pastry recipes, desserts, and baked goods.
- Prepare and decorate a variety of pastries, cakes, pies, and other desserts.
- Ensure consistency and excellence in taste, presentation, and quality of all pastry items according to established house recipes
- Manage inventory of pastry ingredients, ensuring proper ordering and storage to maintain freshness.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute dessert menus and special pastry offerings.
- Train and supervise pastry assistants and other kitchen staff in pastry techniques and procedures.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic pastry kitchen.
- Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and new ingredients to bring innovation to the pastry department.
- Maintain a professional and organized work area, including proper care and maintenance of equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a high-end restaurant or pastry shop
- Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, flavor profiles, and dessert presentation.
- Strong creativity and ability to develop unique and visually appealing pastry creations.
- Proficient in working with various pastry techniques, such as baking, decorating, and chocolate work.
- Knowledge of ingredient functionality, recipe scaling, and menu development.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
